"Death has many destinations," said one man.
“Pardon, did you say something?” asked another.
“You don’t remember me, do you?”
“Well, now you mention it ... but it does depend on whether you are who I think you are.”
“In that case, you must remember at least one of us, musn’t you?”
“Us?”
“Yes - me and a third fellow who you say reminds you of me.”
“You know him then?”
"Well, coincidences are often stranger.”
“But strangers, by definition, are never coincidences.”
The two men shrugged and continued along the path in two completely different directions.
“The way we head,” called the first man after a few paces, “must say something about our respective destinations.”
“It doesn’t follow,” called back the second.
And, indeed, Death never follows - it simply leads the way.
A third man, the narrator, shrugged and disappeared.
